About Cell and Molecular Biology

The Cell and Molecular Biology Program Area (CMB) of the Biology Department is an important part of what made San Diego State the number one small research university in the United States. The CMB is recognized as one of the strongest research areas in the California State University system as measured by grant activity, faculty accomplishments, advanced degrees awarded, and success of its students.

The mission and vision of the CMB Program is to provide excellence in research and education in cell and molecular biology. Our goal is to provide the best possible education to the next generation of scientists through research, teaching, mentoring, and service.
