Bio

My research project is investigating the role of motility on Trichomonas vaginalis pathogenesis. I am specifically interested in kinesin-2 proteins which are known to mediate anterograde intraflagellar transport, a process crucial for flagellar assembly. I am currently in the process of knocking these proteins out in T. vaginalis using CRISPR/Cas9 to determine if motility mutants can still infect the host and bacteria found in the vaginal microbiome.
